Gluten Free Island Ribs

Barbeque Ribs is one of our favorite summer time dishes, and I am always looking for different ways to prepare them, as well as new flavor combinations. You see, many barbeque sauces and/or the spices that are used to make them are not gluten free, so I simply make my own. I do have a traditional barbeque sauce in my cookbook, Vedam’s Gluten Free & Fabulous! Recipes From A Southern Gay Househusband. That recipe is a traditional, Southern recipe that is perfectly balanced with brown sugar and molasses for sweetness, and vinegar and Worcestershire sauce and Sriracha for heat.

Gluten Free Grilled Barbecue Honey Teriyaki Wings

Summertime is grill time, but that does not mean that you have to get stuck with the same ol’, same ol’ barbecue sauce. Yes, I love a traditional Southern sauce, so much in fact, I put that recipe in my gluten free cookbook, Vedam’s Gluten Free & Fabulous! Recipes From A Southern Gay Househusband. Yes, I love that sauce, but I also love variations, and so, when I posted yesterday’s gluten free recipe, I promised that I would be sharing different barbecue recipes daily in honor of the upcoming holiday. After all, the 4th of July is one of the biggest barbecue holidays.

Gluten Free Teriyaki Sauce & Grilled Honey Teriyaki Chicken Wings

Years ago, right after I was diagnosed gluten intolerant, I was blown away when I found out the hard way that teriyaki sauce is not usually gluten free! Yes, I had heard that you had to look at all the ingredients when shopping, but my husband and I were not in the grocery; we had gone out to eat Chinese food. Being newly diagnosed, and not really used to telling my waiter that I could not eat anything with gluten (plus there was also a language barrier), I ordered something that had teriyaki sauce in it.

Gluten Free Grilled Island Shrimp

Last week, I created a new barbecue sauce, and featured a new recipe, Gluten Free Island Ribs. This new barbecue recipe was such a hit that I immediately made more the next day, and paired it with a grilled shrimp summertime salad. This sweet mango based sauce is perfectly balanced with the savory-ness of onions, peppers, garlic, ginger, cumin and coriander. When I created last week’s recipe, I knew that it would be absolutely righteous on many other proteins, and I promised you then that I would post those updates as I created them… so here is one of those updates… Gluten Free Grilled Island Shrimp! First, I will give you the recipe for the shrimp, and second, a simple, but oh so satisfying idea for a summertime salad.
